EPS Const. Chernyk, now 48, was deliberately struck by a vehicle and subsequently stabbed during a vicious attack by its 30-year-old male driver on Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, at approximately 8:15 p.m., while conducting traffic duties during a CFL Edmonton Eskimos home game.
Constable Chernyk has been released from hospital is now resting at home with family with various injuries. Const. Chernyk has been with the service for 11 years.
