The Loud as Hell Metal Festival from Aug 4-6 was exactly that – loud as hell.
Going on its sixth year, and growing every year, the venue played out at the Dinosaur Downs Stampede Grounds in the Badlands of Drumheller.
With an impressive line-up of 40 Heavy Metal Bands, head bangers got their money’s worth during the three-day event.
The festival was put on by Western Festival Alliance and Loud as Hell. It was hosted by Ryan Semchuck and Geoff Bourrieand. There were many volunteers from Alberta, Saskatchewan and B.C. who helped make it possible.
Day one was a little wet and muddy but that didn’t deter anyone from enjoying the music they came for.
Bands came from across Western Canada and one from Michigan. Red Deer’s Leave the Living performed Friday. Other bands included Immunize, Concrete Funeral, Tides of Kharon, Social Arsonist, Burning Effigy, Neck of The Woods, Tyrants Demise, The Order of Chaos and World War Waiting just to name a few.
Loud as Hell – one of Canada’s top underground metal festivals – was a metal family reunion. If you walked around the grounds, where tents covered the landscape like flowers, you would experience concert goers laughing, hugging and just enjoying the moment.
The music played non-stop and the people were some of the best you’ll meet. What else do you need? If you’re a metal head fan, mark it down for next year because this is a concert you don’t want to miss.
