Bylaw 1216.17 Re-designation of ER Lot – Speers Property • Council gave First Reading to Bylaw 1216/17 being a Bylaw to change the designation of an
“ER” lot to a “PUL” and set a Public Hearing date of August 22, 2017 @ 7pm for Bylaw 1216/17. Proposed Subdivision S-02-17 McWilliams Commercial – Vista Trail
• Council approved the subdivision of Ptn Lot 1 Blk 1 Plan 892 0155 subject to conditions.
City of Red Deer – Vehicles for Hire • Council directed Administration to participate in phase 1 of the request and encourage the
process to proceed in such a way that Administration and other member municipalities become involved and work towards a mutual process going forward understanding the boundaries of the municipalities, and keeping the regional collaboration informed of the potential updates to bylaws that regulate vehicles for hire.
2nd Quarter Operating Statements • Council moved to accept the Operating Statement and Variance report for the six month
period ending June 30, 2017 as information and moved to accept the Capital Project Report for the period ending June 30, 2017 as information.
Proposed Facility Name Change Blackfalds Community Hall • Council moved to support the recommendation of Administration to change the name of the
Blackfalds Community Hall to the Blackfalds Community Centre.
Blackfalds Time Capsule Proposed Relocation • Council moved to support the relocation of the Centennial Time Capsule from its current
location to a location within the grounds directly north of the Wadey Centre within the Denise Nielsen Memorial Park grounds.
Highlights of the Town of Blackfalds council meeting July 11
Council give second, third and final readings to bylaw to close roads as specified in the bylaw for the realignment of Broadway Ave. to Hwy 2A.
The Town of Blackfalds, working with Elkay Developments (Blackfalds) Ltd – developer of Blackfalds Crossing – are required to construct the realignment of Broadway Ave to Hwy 2A, which initially requires that portions of Broadway Ave (RR 27-2) and Hwy 2A be closed in accordance a bylaw.
Womacks Road Safety Review
Council moved to accept administration’s recommendation to revise the School and Playground Zones and Areas as per the July 4, 2017, Womacks Safety Review Drawing, as well as install a second Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) system at the intersection of Cottonwood and Cedar square.
On March 13, 2012 Council revised the current school and playground zones within the town limits. During a recent meeting, council instructed administration to review and revise revisions to these speed zones and intersection treatments along Womacks Road. This request was due to the addition of more children in the area in the Skate Park and the future Bike Skills Park constructed along the south side of Womacks across from the Abbey Centre.
Broadway Avenue and Hwy 2A Upgrades
Council moved to award schedules 1, 2 and 3 of the Broadway Ave and Hwy 2A Upgrades project to Border Paving Ltd for $3.523 million dollars and approved the capital budget increase not to exceed $1,250,000.
