Telus launches Western Canada’s fastest Internet

Blackfalds one of few communities to get it

Blackfalds – TELUS today announced it has launched Western Canada’s fastest Internet packages in a limited number of communities across Alberta, including Blackfalds.
Only one of a handful of communities in Alberta to receive the new service, Blackfalds now has access to TELUS Gigabit Internet – that’s 1000 Megabits per second, nearly seven times faster than what is currently available.
TELUS has also launched a 250 Mbps Internet package. Previously, the fastest service available in Alberta was 150 Mbps.
Earlier this month, TELUS announced it is investing $4.2 billion across Alberta now through 2020, which includes $800,000 in Blackfalds this year alone. TELUS’ investment in Blackfalds will enable TELUS to stay a step ahead of the growing demand for connectivity, including increasing wireless capacity throughout the community and improving the reach, speed and capacity of TELUS’ PureFibre network.
With TELUS’ fastest upload and download speeds yet, users will be able to:
• Upload high-definition photos and videos in seconds
• Download an entire album of music in less than 5 seconds
• Download a 720p High Definition TV episode in less than 10 seconds
• Download a Blu-Ray quality movie in 2 minutes
• Stream more than 300 hours of Netflix per month without buffering or delays
• Connect with friends and family with crystal clear video calls
•Play live multiplayer video games without any game-threatening lag
With TELUS PureFibre, Blackfalds businesses will also benefit from faster and more reliable Internet, giving them a leg up on their competition and fueling local innovation.
Internet 250/250 is available now starting at $75 per month, and Gigabit Internet is available starting at $135 per month, for two years with select TV bundles. Customers can sign up online or visit their nearest TELUS store.
