Pobuda appointed assistant secretary treasurer of WCPS

Kevin Pobuda is the successful candidate as Wolf Creek Public Schools’ new assistant secretary-treasurer. This opening was created as a result of Roger Hall moving into the secretary-treasurer role with the retirement of Joe Henderson May 30, 2017.
“I am excited for the opportunity to be the assistant secretary-treasurer at Wolf Creek Public Schools and to work with the team to ensure that each student is a successful learner”, said Pobuda. “I look forward to moving closer to family and for my children to be part of WCPS.”
Pobuda has nine years finance experience in a k-12 school environment. He has served with School District 60: Peace River North (Fort St. John, B.C.)  as secretary-treasurer (2016-17), assistant secretary-treasurer (2011-16) and accountant (2008-11). These positions have provided him with supervisory experience serving 900 full and part-time employees. His responsibilities included overseeing the finance, maintenance, transportation, and CUPE human resources departments.
Pobuda has a proven track record to improve service levels to both employees and vendors including improving the flow of employee reimbursements to speed up payments to employees and the implementation of direct pay from the accounts payable department to employees and as an option for vendors in an effort to reduce costs and risks to the district.
His educational background includes a Chartered Professional Accountant (CGA) and bachelor of science in actuarial science with a business minor (U of A).
“Kevin brings a strong background in k-12 school finance and operations. He will be a great fit to continue Wolf Creek’s outstanding track record of sound fiscal management”, said Superintendent of Schools Jayson Lovell.
Another interesting aspect of Pobuda joining Wolf Creek is that he is originally from Rimbey and attended Rimbey Elementary and Rimbey Junior/Senior High for k-12. He also worked for Wolf Creek’s facilities and maintenance department as a summer employee. Pobuda and his family have plans to move close to the Ponoka area.
His official starting date is Aug. 8, 2017.
